Set up your nursery and post your first update in an afternoon.
Create your nursery account here, then put the staff app on the device that will live in the room and sign in with the same details. Everything below happens in Admin, in the app, and takes about half an hour.

Choose what you will use
The register, meals, nappies, sleep checks, the notice board, accidents, events, medicines, the two-year check, fees and invoices, and Peggy’s writing help. Anything you leave off never appears in the room, so a setting that only wants observations gets a simple app without buttons nobody uses. You can change your mind any time.

Set up your rooms and your day
Your rooms, your opening hours, the sessions you sell, and the time the end-of-day message goes out (5:30pm unless you change it). Rooms come first because both staff and children attach to them, so doing this now saves going back over everybody later.

Add your staff, and give each one a PIN
Four digits each. The nursery stays signed in on the device; the PIN is what puts a name against every post, register mark and accident report. A member of staff without one cannot sign in at all, so this is the step worth double-checking. Mark your safeguarding lead on their page here too: only the lead and admins can read a concern.

Add the children
Name, room, key worker, and photo consent, which comes in two parts: photos shared with their own family, and appearing in photos other families see. It is enforced everywhere: a child without consent cannot be tagged in a photo, whoever is on shift, and families can change it in their app.

Invite the families
Each family gets a code for the parent app. They see posts about their own child, plus anything shared with their child’s room or the whole nursery. There is no group chat.

Then post something, on the first day
A photo and a sentence is enough. Nurseries that post on the first day tend to keep posting, while those that wait for a big launch often never start.
Only what you need
Switch on the register, meals, nappies, sleep checks, the notice board, accident forms, medicines, the two-year check, fees and invoices. Anything you leave off never appears in the room. You can change your mind whenever you like. If you only use observations, that is all staff will see.
Billing lives in your account, in a browser. You can’t buy anything inside either app.
